2 Bedrooms • 1 Bathroom 1 Bath • Sleeps 3-4The Artist Cottage is the smallest of the three rental units that comprise the Mill Pond Cottage Compound. Built by a well known naval architect, the compound is made up of The Captain's House, The Windmill Cottage and The Artist Cottage. Each unit is unique in it's own right and exhibits the architectural genius and style of the founder,Spaulding Dunbar. As you enter the cottage you will immediately notice the highly prized original wall murals painted by a famous artist whose works are highly collectible. These murals depict waterfront scenes of Chatham dating back to the 1800's. Numerous original built-ins demonstrate the ingenuity of the builder. The loft is supported with a hefty beam and wooden ships knees with large iron nails which were salvaged from a shipwreck off of the coast of Chatham. You will notice the rear transom style of a traditional boat design which acts as the footboard to the two built-in bunks in the loft area. The 1st floor bedroom has an original ships porthole above the queen bed. The drop leaf table in the kitchenette is reflective of a typical table found in the below-deck galley found on old vintage sailing boats. While only 425 square feet, the warmth and nostalgic feel of this cottage and it's surroundings will create lasting and heartwarming memories. This cottage has a first floor bedroom with a queen bed and built-in dresser and the second floor loft area has two built-in twins with personal reading lights and a shared built-in dresser and small closet. The five stairs to the loft area are rather steep and reminiscent of those found on a boat. The Artist Cottage will provide you with a unique, one-of-a-kind vacation experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

About the Owner
Chatham Village Vacation Properties is a small, family owned vacation rental business founded by Edward & Kathleen Skopas. They have vacationed in Chatham for over 30 years and have always dreamed of owning their own property in this quaint and historic town. In 2012 they purchased their first property and over the ensuing years have acquired several other historic homes in Chatham.
They have been highly selective and intentional in their purchase and renovation of these properties and have worked tirelessly to restore and renovate these vacation homes while retaining all their vintage charm and historic significance. Their vacation properties are dedicated to the hospitality business they have built and do not operate as a second home to them or their family. These properties are not encumbered with personal items of the owner but instead, they are decorated, furnished and supplied with their guests needs in mind.
All of their properties share several common attributes:
• Exceptional locations within a short walk to downtown Chatham and the many shops and restaurants on Main Street
• Short walking distances to the beaches on Chatham Harbor and the Atlantic shoreline or Oyster Pond
• Historically significant architecture reflecting the classic style of traditional Chatham homes and cottages that Cape Cod is famous for
• Exude unique and distinctive character without sacrificing modern amenities yet still incorporating many of their original rich vintage features
• Extensively renovated, decorated and furnished in a warm and inviting coastal theme to ensure a comfortable and memorable guest experience
• Immaculately maintained, professionally landscaped and well supplied so that each property feels like your home away from home
We encourage you to read the reviews, talk to the owners and book your next getaway with them. You will make new friends and soon feel like you and your family have your own second home on the cape!
